The 3 day test sessions at Sepang ended today and seams all teams are happy with the numbers achieved on their new 1000cc machines, Stoner managed to do the fastest lap 1:59.607 . Rossi also made great progress with the new GP12 and still fine-tuning it.

I can’t wait for the season to start and hear these new 1000cc machines live at the opening round in Qatar.

As we all know, Carlos Checa has been experimenting with the Ducati GP12 and already has some comments.

Checa claims that the problem with the bike isn’t the chassis as Ducati already experimented with four difference chassises and the results were almost the same ! The problem according to Checa is with tires, Checa added “ When you do not know where the limit of the tire is very hard to develop a motorcycle”

I guess we’ll just have to wait and see the results using different tires.

Arab Riders racing team is Kuwait’s first motorcycle racing team, the guys has been riding motorcycles all their live…they actually don’t remeber when was the first time they rode a motorcycle but what they do remember is that back in 2008 they decided to take their hobby a bit more serious.

I have known Mohamad Al Hadad and Fahad Al Owaish – the 2 guys behind the Arab Riders – for a couple of years and over a cup of coffee we had a serious chat -for a change-, i asked them a couple of questions about the hobby and their recent participation at the Qatar International Road Racing Championship.

Q: How did it all start ?
A: We used to ride with Kuwait BMW Club but our pace was a bit quicker and we wanted to race so with the help of  TriStar we established Kuwait Ducati Club, a club for Ducati owners that like speed as much as we do. Later on we decided to take our adrenaline addiction off the public roads and into a safe environment so we started organizing track days, attending racing classes at California Superbike School and finally last moth we participated at the Qatar International Road Racing Championship. Unfortunately we do not have track in Kuwait so we are chasing track days from Qatar to Dubai to Bahrain and Abu Dhabi.

More details The bike got a new six-gear transmission  with a “wet”, oil-bath clutch based on the design of the Multistrada and Diavel components, the clutch assembly features a “slipper” function and a progressive self-servo mechanism that compresses the friction plates when under drive from the engine. While enhancing frictional efficiency, this also results in a rider-friendly light clutch lever “feel” at the handlebar. Conversely, when the drive force is reversed (over-run), the mechanism reduces pressure on the friction plates, enabling a true racing “slipper” action, reducing the destabilizing effect of the rear-end under aggressive down-shifting and provide a much smoother feeling when closing the throttle or down-shifting under normal riding conditions

The Panigale S and Tricolore are fully equipped with front and rear Ducati Electronic Suspension (DES) system by Öhlins, both the 43mm Öhlins NIX30 forks and the Öhlins TTX36 rear unit are electronically adjustable in compression and rebound, while spring pre-load is manual. Its also equipped with Brembo’s Monobloc M50 callipers, with its extremely compact design it sheds 0.5kg of the weight, the calipers are machined from a single piece of alloy to achieve a higher rigidity and resistance to distortion during extreme braking.
