Spy shots of the 2013 R1250GS, the bike has a completely new engine and romer has it that the engine will come in 2 versions, air-cooled and water-cooled.

The bike now comes with LED day light that looks really cool, a new exhaust and as we see from the photos the final drive is now on the left side.

I was at TriStar workshop and i took a couple photos of the 2012  S1000RR,  apparently the whole shipment is already sold.

Traction control, ABS, quick-shifter, tiptronic semi-automatic transmission, tire pressure sensors, daptive headlights, and electronic suspension are some of the technology fitted on BMW motorcycles…and just when we think there is nothing more to be added, BMW surprises us with another innovation.
Dynamic Damping Control DDC, or in other words Active Suspension….the system has been around for some time and has been used on a lot of cars, but never on a motorcycle. Because the way motorcycle suspension works is a lot more complicated than a car suspension, so the innovation is not in inventing the system but is in adapting it to motorcycles.
The smart suspension will react automatically -on-the-fly- to braking, accelerating, and cornering while taking into account road surfaces and your riding style to make sure you’ve got the perfect suspension setting at all times.

The system takes its data from the bike’s ECU, ABS sensors, spring travel sensors at the forks and shock and from tilt and roll sensors.

Here are a few examples of the adjustments the bike can make:

When the rider gets hard on the gas, the bike automatically activates stronger damping at the rear shock to prevent squat and wheelie effects and help get the power down more effectively. Likewise, as the rider brakes, the front forks receive increased damping to help combat nose-dive and keep the bike stable and ready for corner entry. Damping in these situation is added in proportion to the acceleration and deceleration forces the bike is experiencing, and the added damping is removed as soon as the acceleration or braking conditions disappear.

As a bike leans over, the suspension is gradually firmed up relative to the bike’s lean angle, and this effect loosens off as you approach vertical again. This one seems a little counter-intuitive given that under heavy lean angles, the wheels need to move further than usual to compensate for bumps – but where smooth roads are concerned, this will certainly be a helpful feature.

The bike will also recognize bumpy terrain, be it potholes, ruts, rail crossings and the like. When the front wheel suspension travel sensors detect a bumpy section of road, both front and rear suspension will immediately loosen off to provide the smoothest ride possible over the obstruction.

Arab Riders racing team is Kuwait’s first motorcycle racing team, the guys has been riding motorcycles all their live…they actually don’t remeber when was the first time they rode a motorcycle but what they do remember is that back in 2008 they decided to take their hobby a bit more serious.

I have known Mohamad Al Hadad and Fahad Al Owaish – the 2 guys behind the Arab Riders – for a couple of years and over a cup of coffee we had a serious chat -for a change-, i asked them a couple of questions about the hobby and their recent participation at the Qatar International Road Racing Championship.

Q: How did it all start ?
A: We used to ride with Kuwait BMW Club but our pace was a bit quicker and we wanted to race so with the help of  TriStar we established Kuwait Ducati Club, a club for Ducati owners that like speed as much as we do. Later on we decided to take our adrenaline addiction off the public roads and into a safe environment so we started organizing track days, attending racing classes at California Superbike School and finally last moth we participated at the Qatar International Road Racing Championship. Unfortunately we do not have track in Kuwait so we are chasing track days from Qatar to Dubai to Bahrain and Abu Dhabi.

Dacar Motor Sport unveiled a very exciting gadget for the BMW 1200 GS, a Twin Turbo kit that transforms the BMW Boxer engine to a completely new engine with 170HP…yes you read that right 170HP.

So if you feel that your GS is under powered, this is the best performance kit you could ever treat your boxer to, and am sure it could be easily modified to fit any BMW equipped with a boxer engine.

The kit is easy to install and comes with an intercooler, custom made exhaust ducts and an ECU.

I have been browsing the net the past 2 days, reading all posts and news coverage of EICMA, i was also following Facebook posts by a couple of friends who are attending the exhibition but unfortunately -apart from the EICMA girls – this year exhibition had nothing special.

It’s more of a scooter exhibition than a motorcycle exhibition, most of the bikes at EICMA were either a different color version of last year models or just face lifted 2010 motorcycles.

Most of the manufacturers had a couple of scooters on display, but the chatter was mostly on BMW scooters the C 600 Sport and the C 650 GT plus concept C and concept E. Aprilia also introduced 2 new scooters, the SRV 850 and the SR Motard which comes in either 2-stroke 50cc or a 4-stroke 125cc. but the most radical designs came from Vespa.

There must be good reason for BMW to go back to the scooter market, is it the gas prices, is it the bad city traffic, or its just a trend that’s becoming a cult ?

The above video is for the K1200R it goes back to 2006 and its full of attitude, where as the below is for the S1000RR and its a fresh brew missing all the attitude !

BMW please give the RR ads some Attitude to gain some Respect.

No significant changes in the 2012 lineup, the lineup will only come dressed in some new colors plus a Trophy edition 800GS.

The good news is that the K1300R and the K1300S are here to stay -or at least until 2013-, still the rumors of a 1600cc naked bike are very strong and its said that the bike is 13hp less powerful than the four-cylinder “K” !!

The K1300S will be available in Titan Silver Metallic and in Sapphire Metallic Black, the K1300R will only come in Acid Green Metallic.
